2024 has been designated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the year of Roots Tourism.
An ambitious project aimed at engaging everyone who returns, wishes to return, or simply wants to maintain a connection with the country of origin of their family, thus reconnecting with the roots of their own family and cultural history.

The Municipality of Lorenzago, by participating in the Ministry’s call, has decided to implement a series of initiatives aimed at identifying as many emigrant fellow citizens around the world as possible, creating the most comprehensive mapping by 2024. The project aims to build, practically from scratch, a network connecting Lorenzago’s emigrants with their homeland, while also raising awareness among the local population about this topic.

Once these operations are completed, emigrants participating in the project will be able to receive news, newsletters, and invitations to events and celebrations held in Lorenzago, as well as some personalized gadgets. At the same time, they can become contact points for Lorenzago residents who wish to visit the various places where the emigrants are located, thus creating a network of relationships. Additionally, organizational support will be provided for arranging trips to Lorenzago, offering an opportunity to rediscover their roots.

Below, you can find an interactive map, continuously updated, showing the Lorenzago population across the world:

For those who haven't completed the survey yet and wish to join the project:

MARCH 2024

ALLOCATION OF MINISTRY FUNDING TO OUR PROJECT

2024 has been chosen as the Year of Roots Tourism, a type of tourism that encourages Italians who emigrated abroad and their descendants to return to visit and experience the places of their ancestors through various initiatives.

The Municipality of Lorenzago participated in a Ministry call and secured a small grant that will be used to implement a project aimed at mapping the Lorenzago residents living abroad.

In this first phase, we also need your help to gather contacts of Lorenzago residents abroad and create a network to inform and keep them updated on the life of the village, its various activities, and to send publications and articles about Lorenzago. Moreover, it will be possible to exchange information and details to facilitate their return or provide support in case of travel abroad.
